A gastroscopy is a test that enables Dr. Lee to look inside your stomach using a flexible camera (Gastroscope) to inspect the lining (mucosa) of your oesophagus (food pipe), stomach and duodenum (start of small bowel). This test is usually performed under a sedation anaesthetic. You will need to fast for a minimum of 6 hours prior to your test but may drink clear fluids up till 2 hours before your procedure. A biopsy (small sample of tissue) may be required to assist in correctly diagnosing the cause of any symptoms you may be experiencing. These samples will be sent to pathology to be examined under the microscope.
